::snickers::This one is hard! I'm going to have to say the unicorn chick is the scariest...
Love You Forever, no doubt about it. We got that book as a gift when my son was born, and as much as I hate the cover--and I do hate the cover--the inside illustration of the man carrying his elderly mother up the stairs completely horrified me.
Hah! Hah! I'd go with the Munsch, myself. Munsch was a hot-button issue for me when I lived in Canada. I have never cared for his work or the illustrator's (that's a four-year-old's face on a baby's body, for example), but those Canucks are crazy about their homeboy's books. He takes up entire sections of the bookstore. I, too, was creeped out by LOVE YOU FOREVER, but they say Munsch wrote the book for his wife when she lost a child. Sad, but still, the audience at large doesn't know that, and the book has the oddness of a Mentos commercial. --- I might add that the monster on the Stine book is kinda cute and non-threatening, and the unicorn one is scary because it's a terrible composition. I might add that, but I won't because this comment is already too long.
LOVE YOU FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!AUGH....................
Love You Forever--I get the skeeves every time someone tells me it's one of their favorite kids books. If my mother-in-law ever broke into our house to rock my husband to sleep, I'd be searching real estate listings in Canada before the sun came up.
Oh, no, Carol. I just re-read your comment. I guess Canada's out. France, then.
No question. "Love You Forever." It's the creepiest alleged kids' book I've ever read. I have an aunt who sent me and my sisters each one. Anatomically and conceptually wrong illustrations with cloyingly sentimental text. I got rid of it as fast as I could.
I was going to say, just going by the cover, Arch Enemy but really it has to be Love You Forever. Aside from the heaps of obvious problems, who puts a bathroom on the cover of a book that isn't a potty training one?
I guess I'm out of the norm here, but the Goosebumps book totally grosses me out. It reminds me of SLIME that I got for Christmas one year when I was young in the late 1970s or early 1980s, and just thinking about that stuff, still makes me gag. Of course, I am in my first trimester, so maybe the Goosebumps book isn't all that bad. . .:) Margohttp://margodill.com/blog/
I will vote for the ArchEnemy cover.
ARCH ENEMY. I don't like the mens when they cover their faces. The black battle armor is scary. The LOVE YOU FOREVER toddler looks like he'd wreak havoc on my house, but at least he won't blow me to smithereens.
I don't believe anyone could blow you to smithereens, Jess. Maybe to smithers, but never to eens!
